Cookies and Cream Cake

By request of one of my wonderful blog followers Michelle, (you can read about her life here and see how she deals with military life and just life in general) I am posting the recipe for my Cookies and Cream cake..

Cake 
1 Box white cake mix
Eggs, water and oil as called for on the box
~OR your favorite white cake recipe
15 Oreos, crushed

Frosting
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar
1 (8 oz) container Cool whip, room temperature
15 Oreos, crushed
¼ tsp. pure vanilla extract

With the frosting I did something a lil different and used the mint oreos to give it an added flavor and it worked great!! Maybe next time I will use the chocolate oreos!! :D

Cake: Grease and flour two or three 8″ pans (I used 2)  Prepare cake according to package directions (or recipe directions), stirring in the crushed Oreos to the batter before dividing between prepared pans.  Bake as directed on box or in recipe.  Remove cake layers from oven and allow to cool completely on cooling rack.
Frosting: In mixer, cream the cream cheese and sugar. Add vanilla, mix well, and stir in Cool whip. Mix well. Fold in crushed Oreos until well blended & frost cooled cake.  Refrigerate cake until ready to serve and refrigerate any leftovers. 

Daddy's Home

Okay so today I was back into my baking mood. I made a red velvet cake for Big Papa when he first came home and he loved it and then said you know what would be really good?? A cookies and cream cake! So today I whipped one up for him. I did something different with the icing. Instead of using reg oreos I used the mint oreos and OMG did it turn out wonderful!

So I tortured him and made him look at it all evening and told him he couldn't eat any of it till he ate all of his dinner! =) And he did like a good boy. Then we goofed off with the kids. We are still adjusting to daddy being home but we are enjoying every minute of it. We have had our disagreements about how things are done and who should do what and who is SUPPOSED to do things around here but we are getting down to it and figuring things out. So here are some pics of the afternoon/evening. I love posting pics of my hubby and the kiddos... I love how they interact and how much love you can see between the two of them. I snapped on my high tech flash and snapped away.. I hope you all enjoy the pics as much as I do. These people are my whole world and its amazing and wonderful and I am so glad that I can share my wonderful blessings with you all and the rest of the world. Thanks again everyone for reading.

Back to doing my BooHoos... I got slack on it and I figured I would get back to it!! Mrs. Monkey started it and you can read her BooHoos and Hooyas Here! =)

BooHoo- Reality is hubby is gonna have to go back to work soon and thats less time I will have to spend with him!! =(
Hooah- Bigger and better things are in store for our little family and I am hoping for the best!!!

What I have been up to!

I dont have really much to type except that I am having a blast with my husband home. I am not sure what Im gonna do when Big Papa goes back to work and the kids go back to school and its just me and Buttercup again... I have been balancing on the line of going back to work or maybe taking some online course though I am not sure yet.. I want to do something but I want to give my babies the attention and time that they deserve. Its been hard getting back into a routine... There are things that I have to get used to like I cant just get on the computer and play WOW when I want... I need to take Big Papa into consideration and not take time away from him. We have been doing alot of housework too. =P Not that I am complaining my house hasnt stayed this clean in idk how long but its different. He hates to sit still and likes to be busy and I am the opposite. Anyways here are some pics of what I have been up to this past week! Sorry I have been a slack blogger lately but as you can tell I have my time and my hands full!
